HISTORY OF FIXED DIVERTER SYSTEM
The Regan Fixed Diverter System (Model KFDJ) was developed in the early 1970s by Jack Regan and Regan Offshore International. In 1976 Regan Offshore acquired Hughes Tool Company and merged the KFDJ Diverter and other Drilling Equipment Technology under the name of Hughes Tool Company.
During 1977 & 1978 respectively Combustion Engineering (CE) purchased both Gray Tool Co (Houston) and Ventura Tool Co (California), changing the name of Ventura to Vetco and merging the two to become VetcoGray. CE also purchased Hughes Tool Company product line and Patented the Fixed Diverter System under the name Hughes Drilling Equipment Company.
In 1991 Bain Capital & Partners, purchased Hughes Drilling Equipment from CE and thereafter sold the company to ASEA Brown Boveri, establishing new entity, ABB VetcoGray. The KFDJ Fixed Diverter continued to be manufactured and became the main offshore technology for shallow well gas kicks.
In 2001 after much success, ABB sold VetcoGray to private equity partners Candover, 3i and JP Morgan Partners, who established the Company Vetco International. Vetco Intl was purchased in 2004 by GE Oil & Gas and merged Vetco with Hydril. In 2017 GE purchased Baker Hughes, which quickly deteriorated financially, that led to Baker Hughes taking over the Drilling Equipment Technology held within GE Oil & Gas.
In 2015 we began working on new types of technology within Fixed Diverter Systems to meet the industry requirements of backup and redundancy protection for Life & Property. Today Avert-Tek LLC has Granted Patents in the USA, Singapore, and the European Union for our engineered & designed Diverter Sealing Technology. Our new sealing technology has been operating in the Middle East and is currently operating in the North Sea on two (2) Offshore Jackup Rigs. Our Fixed Diverter Technology is supported by our endeavors to finalize our Q1 & Q2 Quality Certification programs within 2021.
